Thrill The World is an annual worldwide attempt to break the largest simultaneous dance with Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Thousands of people in cities around the world will learn “Thriller” dance and perform it together at the same time. The purpose of the Thrill The World event is to bring dance to people all over the world, to connect the world in fun, celebration and dance, and to show that any dream, vision, idea and passion CAN be realized! At the same time we are honoring the memory of a great artist, Michael Jackson.
Thrill The World was first invented in 2006 by a Canadian dancer, Ines Markeljevic, who had been dancing to Michael Jackson's "Thriller "since she was a little girl. Because "Thriller" is a well known song all around the world, and the choreography is easy to learn for everyone regardless of age, she came up with an idea of a worldwide simultaneous dance. In the Thrill The World event the choreography has been modified from the original only to make it last the whole 6 minutes of the song.
This year's Thrill The World event in Finland is taking place in Tampere, at midnight between Saturday October 26th and Sunday October 27th at 12am at Keskustori. The dance is easy to learn, either by watching the instructional videos at Thrill The World official webpage or by coming to our dance rehearsals. The rehearsals are held on Sundays 13.10. and 20.10. at 11.30-13.00 in Ratina stadium (Ratinan rantatie 1, Tampere). Everyone can come, no previous experience needed!
In 2009 a world record was made: 22 571 dancers in 33 countries danced "Thriller" simultaneously! In the same year in Helsinki the number of dancers was 90. The next year there were two organizer cities, Tampere with 72 dancers and Helsinki with 37. In the year 2011 TTW was held in Helsinki and had 55 participants in total. Last year 2012 Thrill the world was held once again in Tampere and had 124 dancers, amazing! Pictures from the 2010 and 2012 events in Tampere can be found in the "Kuvia" section of our site.
People all over the world have learned the dance so don't hesitate and join us! And if you want to make it even more fun, you can dress as a zombie on the day of the main event!

Please read these important considerations before you sign up:
- You need to sign up only if you take part in the dance. Those who are not going to dance, do not register.
- In order to participate in the event, you need to practice a dance choreography in advance. It is your responsibility to learn it (you can learn it by yourself or come to our dance rehearsals).
- In addition to this pre-registration you will need to register at the actual event in Keskustori. Reserve some time for this, do not show up at the last minute. Be prepared to wait.
- If you are underage you must have a permission waiver signed by your guardian. Take the waiver with you to the event. Print it out here.
